Hard Drive Failure – Causes And Solutions

For people who are already knowledgeable about hard drives may know some of the reasons why you have a primary IDE hard drive failure sometimes. Basically, the Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) is the most commonly used drive interface. The mother board of computers usually contains to IDE connectors. The first one is the primary IDE or IDE0 and the other is the Secondary IDE or IDE1.

The IDE is very important and you can attach a maximum of two devices. You must keep in mind that only one is given the highest priority. It is known as the Master Drive and the lowest priority is known as the Slave drive.

There will be situations that the system will prompt that it does not recognize the IDE hard drive. It will state on the message that the hard drive has failed. When this happens, it is very important to do a Hard disk recovery to retrieve all the data that was lost during the failure. When the hard disk is experiencing a failure, it will prompt an error message “Primary master Hard Drive Failure”. As the message implies, the primary hard disk failed and it directs always to the IDE0. It is also dependent on the total number of drives that are installed on the computer and BIOS type as well.

Hard Drive Failure Causes

One of the causes of the error message is that the system failed to communicate with the Hard disk because of a physical hard drive failure. Some of the issues that may have caused the failure are actuator arm failure, disk controller problems, read/write head crash, spindle motor crash, firmware corruption or electronic issues. Usually, there are also some problems that may cause it like bad cabling. The cables that are connected to it can be faulty because of heat, wear, tear and others.

Hard Drive Failure Solutions

The good thing is that there are a couple of solutions that users may consider doing. Once a hard disk drive failure has happened, you need to turn your computer off immediately. Take a new hard drive and replace the new one so the recent backup on the drive will be stored on the new drive. If the backup is corrupted or it is unavailable, you can make use of the Data Recovery service to obtain optimum recovery. In case the problem is on the cable, you can simply replace the cables with new ones.

Hard disk recovery is one way of extracting any lost information in case of a hard drive failure. It is a customized assistance provided by various companies to help users. The process of data recovery is sophisticated because of the different hardware, firmware and software steps. The experts make sure that they maintain complete data integrity after a hard drive failure together with highly advanced procedures.
